Join us and step back in time to explore the history of Fort MacArthur, the stronghold that guarded our coast for over half a century.
Fort MacArthur was built during World War I and had weapons and observation posts scattered all along the coast, including the coastal facing side of the Palos Verdes Peninsula. This talk will begin with the events leading up to the Fort’s construction until its retirement in 1974.
Speaker Jim Shneer is a retired engineering manager who has written and lectured around the peninsula for many years on a wide variety of topics - mostly historical. His book on this subject is the most omprehensive one yet published.
