Embrace the Autumn Season

by Simie Seaman

AUTUMN is waiting on our doorstep.  It’s a wondrous time of year, when the holiday stress hasn’t quite set in yet and the post-summer routine starts to feel normal, allowing a peaceful bliss to take hold, there’s a sense of freedom that sparks as soon as the foliage starts to change. Although some find certain sadness in the passing of bright and sunny summer’s days, I find that one of the greatest joys is the breathtaking transformation in nature that can be experienced most dramatically in autumn. This season is perfect for taking beautiful scenic photos and spending time outdoors. Nothing can relax and rejuvenate you more than enjoying nature and its surrounding scenery.

Don’t let the chill in the air discourage you from heading outdoors. Autumn is one of the best seasons – not too hot, not too cold. So get outdoors and enjoy the fresh air is the best way to get the most out of the autumn months. I love Banning Park in the autumn with all its beauty and the trees leaves fluttering down and falling on the ground and spinning and taking off on a journey. A perfect autumn day involves a walk in the park on a misty morning through a carpet of leaves and feeling the crunch beneath your feet while a cool wind blows.

There is nothing more invigorating or nostalgic than being captivated by the brilliant colors of mother’s canvas as your instincts to hibernate are aroused by the smell of wood burning in the fireplaces. The first time you catch the smell of the burning fireplaces, you know autumn as officially arrived. That smell mingles in with the dry leaves cluttering the ground you can’t deny that the smell of fall is in the air. There is no excuse for not heading out before the sun has had time to burn off the lovely mist! Whether you’re the type who enjoys nature and wants to stay active or more of a home-body there’s something for everyone. Autumn is a part of the jam-packed holiday season. There’s the back-to-school rush, Halloween, and Thanksgiving before rolling into winter and Christmas. It is the season for pulling out the sweaters, gloves, and hats a time to start making hot cocoa and settle down in your favorite chair in front of the fireplace, and a time for choosing books to read as nightfall comes earlier and evenings grow longer.

This season creates the perfect setting for a sense of comfort, warmth and reflection. It’s also great time to go camping or fishing or anything else where you can spend quality time with family while eating good food or to take a road trip and experience the autumn skies. In autumn, it seem as though the sky is always changing. The clouds can be hanging low radiating a deep, dark gray and a few minutes later the sky can explode into the most brilliant, perfect shade of blue.

So enjoy autumn while it is here and take an advantage of the all-to-brief window of opportunity to create memories that will last a lifetime for you and your families. The memories of summer are not exactly what they have been in the past because of the COVID 19 pandemic.  So as we head into the autumn season stay hopeful, safe and enjoy the beauty each season has to offer. with social distaining and masks. Everyone might not share my annual affections for autumn, but no matter what the season and present pandemic status, it’s important to enjoy the moment. Whether it is autumn, spring, winter, or summer remember to take the time to enjoy the season. Seasons come and go- they all come back around again- but each and every one is worth paying attention to. Enjoy them while they last! Wishing you peace and calm in the season and a renewed sense of purpose as we move through these times together!
