Love On 4 Paws

Animal Assisted Therapy

Love On 4 Paws (LO4P) is a Non-profit volunteer based organization committed to making a positive difference for those in need through high quality animal assisted therapy. Our volunteers accomplish this by sharing the joy, comfort and healing power of their pets’ unconditional love. Volunteer teams reinforce positive treatment of pets, good grooming, health care principles and the humane treatment of animals.

Established in 1997 LO4P provides services to patients, special needs children, veterans and seniors.  LO4P promotes improved health care and treatment outcomes, and generates greater awareness for and appreciation of animal assisted therapy. We have approximately 80 volunteer teams, and visit with around 50,000 people each year in the greater Los Angeles area.

Unique to a LO4P visit is our volunteers offer an instant photo of the patient with the dog or cat, at no charge. We have found these photos provide comfort long after the visit ends, and can even become treasured mementos.

Our volunteers share their time and pets for many different reasons.

“I volunteer because when I see a person in the hospital who is suffering and down and Charlie and I can make them smile, it's all worth it.”

- Laura

“To cheer someone who just lost a loved one, or see a smile on a sick child's face, or to bring smiles to worried family members, has made every visit by Charlie all worth it.  A simple wag of his tail has made all the difference in someone's life.  I know; it did with me.  When I needed a hand, he gave me his paw."

- Linda

“To be able to give people a positive lift, when down and out, for whatever reason, that is why we volunteer.”

- Michael
