The 2021 National Watercolor Society Exhibitions

The 2021 National Watercolor Society (NWS) Member Exhibition is an array of creative possibilities and a feast for the eyes. “The stylistic range is expansive, from abstract to realistic and everything in between,” said Denise Willing-Booher President. “The artwork is very heartening and full of passion with a strong voice. Viewing the paintings made me feel emotional and tugged at my heart.”

This online exhibition showcased 95 paintings selected from almost a thousand entries. “Some jumped out and gripped me immediately whilst others took time to reveal their quiet excellence over several days,” said juror Mat Barber Kennedy. “I look for awareness of the artist’s hand in the act of painting. I am excited by invention and originality but not simply for its own sake. Even in works that operate within familiar tropes, I hope to recognize the honest voice of the artist speaking from the heart.”
