Autumn in Southern California By Photographer and Contributor Dianne Gowder

They say we don’t have the four seasons here in Southern California, so how can we have  fall colors?

I would say we do it rather well. Just take a look at these glorious red maples that I saw just yesterday in Palos Verdes Estates

South Coast Botanic Garden does Fall color quite beautifully too, I found lovely Oak trees in green, red and gold, along with a fabulous Lego exhibit that is worth a visit.( no photos of the Lego today).

I spend a lot of time looking up when I am out walking, I am rather partial to clouds but.. sometimes beauty is to be found lying on the ground

In fact, when I start to look around I find not only the trees wearing their autumn colors, but flowers, bushes with berries and those wonderful pomegranates and persimmons (my favorites)  that we have in the fall.

can’t get enough of these vibrant colors. Just look at these gorgeous trees, against clear blue autumn skies. Who needs four seasons when we can have this and the sunshine!

Fruit and flowers anyone?

So please enjoy the beauty of the season because even the skies are decked out!

Dianne loves to walk and she tries to do at least 3 miles every day before she heads out to work. Her love of  photography evolved from her walks.

“ I have always been amazed by scenery here and more and more I found myself stopping to capture the beauty of my surroundings. As I shared my work I realized that very few people were even aware of what they have on their doorstep!”

Dianne has made it her mission to share the beauty through her photographs and she takes her friends on walks as often as possible.
