SPECIAL EVENTS 

Palos Verdes Pastoral Garden-to-Table Dining Experience, Sunday May 1, Terranea Resort.  Hosted by the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy in partnership with Terranea Resort, Pastoral will highlight the necessity of butterflies, birds and other pollinators and the ways in which we can reverse the dramatic decline in their populations by creating waystations with native plants and wildflowers and restoring others.  Terranea Chef de Cuisine Andrew Vaughan, will present the event’s garden-to-table menu using the finest local sustainable seafood, grass-raised meats and the freshest ingredients and flavors to create delicious and thoughtful Low Carbon Footprint courses paired with an inspired selection of wines.  For information on Sponsorship Benefits please call (310) 541-7613 ext. 210.  Sponsorship and tickets are available at: pvplc.org.

ACTIVITIES

Outdoor Volunteer Day at Alta Vicente Reserve with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy, Saturday, May 7th, 9am – 12pm. Come help us to restore habitat on the 22-acre restoration site to create a home for rare cactus wrens and gnatcatchers with beautiful views of Catalina Island. George F Canyon Guided Nature Preserve Walk with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy, Saturday, May 7th, 10:30am.  You will be guided by a trained naturalist to discover a unique variety of wildlife in their canyon habitat with amazing views of the LA Basin.  Meet outside on the back deck of the George F Canyon Nature Center. Parking in Preserve lot located at 27305 Palos Verdes Drive East, Rolling Hills Estates, CA 90274. No RSVP required.  Rain cancels.  

 

Second Saturday Guided Nature Walk - Forrestal Reserve with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy, Saturday, May 14th, 9am.  Appreciate some of the best wildflower viewing and dramatic geological formations on the cliffs of this former basalt quarry.  See the faults, folds and igneous intrusions visible in the sedimentary bedding.   Moderate to strenuous.
