Celebrate Chefs & Cellars - AN AFTERNOON IN THE VINEYARD

Benefiting Palos Verdes Art Center

As summer days begin to heat up, now is the time to plan for a cooling escape with gorgeous vistas.  Celebrate Chefs & Cellars, to be held Sunday, August 28,  will bring dozens of acclaimed local restaurants and specialty caterers paired with top wines and spirits to Catalina View Garden. Perched high above Wayfarers Chapel on the Palos Verdes coast, the Garden is the event space of local vineyard Catalina View Wines, owned by landowner and vintner Jim York, and looks down on fields of grape vines that appear to cascade into the Pacific Ocean. Presented by The Associates, a support group of Palos Verdes Art Center / Beverly G. Alpay Center for Arts Education, Celebrate Chefs & Cellars is a favorite fundraiser for the Art Center. More like a garden party than a food festival, the annual event allows limited guests to attend, offering a relaxed opportunity to visit with friends and meet new neighbors. In addition to the tasting menu, a silent auction will feature an eclectic array of treats, art, and gift baskets for purchase.

This year's event brings back popular chefs such as Entertaining Friends Catering's Jean Cordero and famed confectioner Jeffray D. Gardner of Marsatta Chocolate, which has been praised in the Los Angeles Times and on Eater Los Angeles. Past visitors to the event will encounter new culinary treats by providers such as Til the Last Bite!, whose chef/owner Jenene Mckay also manages a wine company, Til the Last Sip! Both will present at Celebrate Chefs & Cellars.

In addition to wine, spirits, and beer, cooling libations will also include seltzers, sodas, kombucha, and hard-to-find specialties such as Finland's citrusy Long Drink.  To see the list of food and drink sponsors and buy tickets, visit celebratechefs.com. Tickets are $150, and the tasting is for guests 21 and over only, so leave the (younger) kids at home. August may seem like a summer away, but this special event tends to sell out early.

Bon appetit and salud!
