SPECIAL EVENTS  

Guided Nature Walk at Sacred Cove – Abalone Cove Reserve with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy, Saturday, June 10th, 9am.  Situated in the Abalone Cove Reserve and located between Portuguese Point and Inspiration Point, this secluded cove features wonderful rock formations edged with tide pools and a channel into a sea cave.  Moderate to strenuous. Doors Open Peninsula Event, Saturday, June 17th, 10am – 3:30pm.  To celebrate the Palos Verdes Peninsula 100th anniversary, the Palos Verdes Library District invites you to explore the Peninsula and get to know its treasures partnering with Peninsula organizations including the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy.  Join a Peninsula-wide open house to come inside the many places you pass by every day and some you probably didn't even know were here!  Participating locations include the George F Canyon Nature Preserve (RHE) and the White Point Nature Preserve (SP), along with historic points of interest, cultural locales and military sites.  Pick up your passport and get as many stamps at each place as possible!  Learn more at: www.pvld.org/dop

Native Plant Sales – Saturday, June 10th at George F Canyon 11:30am-2:30pm, Saturday, June 24th at White Point Nature Education Center 11:30am-2:30pm. Monthly Plant Sales are Back! Come to our nature centers during our sales to learn more about growing local native plants and purchase some for your garden!

Full Moon Walks are Back for the Summer at George F Canyon, Friday, June 30th, 8:30pm – Join the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy for a naturalist guided experience on a moonlit trail to see nature's nocturnal sights.  Ages 8+.  $12 per person.  Advance reservations are required.  Sign up at: pvplc.org/calenda
 
ACTIVITIES

Outdoor Volunteer Day at Abalone Cove Reserve with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy, Saturday, June 3rd and Saturday, June 24th, 9am – 12pm.  Join the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy to volunteer on a breathtaking coastal reserve helping restore wildlife habitat. George F Canyon Guided Family Nature Preserve Walk with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy, Saturday, June 3rd, 10:30am.  You will be guided by a trained naturalist to discover a unique variety of wildlife in their canyon habitat with amazing views of the LA Basin.  Meet outside on the back deck of the George F Canyon Nature Center.  Parking in Preserve lot located at 27305 Palos Verdes Drive East, Rolling Hills Estates, CA 90274. No RSVP required.  Rain cancels.

Outdoor Volunteer Day at White Point Nature Preserve with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy, Sunday, June 4th and Sunday, June 25th 9am – 12pm.  Help care for the gardens at White Point Nature Preserve by planting native shrubs, removing invasive weeds, watering native plants, grooming trails and more! Sign up at: https://pvplc.volunteerhub.com/

Outdoor Volunteer Day at Alta Vicente Reserve with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy, Saturday, June 10th, 9am – 12pm. Come help us to restore habitat on the 22-acre restoration site to create a home for rare cactus wrens and gnatcatchers with beautiful views of Catalina Island. Guided Family Nature Walk at White Point Nature Preserve with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy, Saturday, June 17th, 10:30am.  Naturalists will guide you along a trail to discover a unique variety of wildlife in their coastal sage scrub habitat with amazing views across to the ocean.  Meet in front of the Nature Center and come inside to explore after the hike.  Reservations not required.  Preserve parking available at the end of the street in a gravel lot at 1600 West Paseo del Mar, San Pedro.

Volunteer with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy Rapid Response Team, Fridays and Saturdays, 9am - 12pm.  Work alongside the field staff around the Palos Verdes Nature Preserve to help protect important wildlife habitat.  Help with trail maintenance, fence building, installing signage and more!   Students can receive community service hours.  No experience needed. 15 and up.
