A Meaningful Gift to History: A Donation from the Driver’s Seat. Dana Graham's Palos Verdes Historical Society Contribution$

In a gesture that perfectly blends history, heritage, and generosity, Dana Graham—lifelong Palos Verdes resident, local realtor, and President of the Palos Verdes Historical Society—was recently offered $5,000 to bring his 1929 Dual Cowl Phaeton Packard to the prestigious Bel Air Country Club.

The invitation came from Jay Borzi, a former Rolling Hills resident and current Bel Air Country Club member, who wanted to enhance the club’s 100-year anniversary celebration held the weekend of April 19th. The car was parked under a specific tree to recreate an iconic photo taken a century ago, showcasing a near-exact match to the original scene.

Rather than accept the payment for himself, Dana Graham requested that the $5,000 be made as a donation directly to the Palos Verdes Historical Society—an organization devoted to preserving and celebrating the history of the Peninsula.

Dana, whose garage includes well-preserved classic automobiles, was happy to contribute to the event by sharing this rare piece of automotive history. Vehicles like his 1929 Packard are seldom seen in motion; most are kept in static collections or trailered to shows. By driving his vehicle to the event, Dana not only brought the past to life but inspired a renewed appreciation for the era.

This generous donation supports the continued mission of the Palos Verdes Historical Society to maintain, protect, and promote the community’s rich historical legacy. Contributions like this ensure that stories of the past remain accessible and alive for future generations.

As Dana Graham has shown, honoring history doesn’t always mean looking back—it can also mean driving it forward.
