Guided Nature Walk at George F Canyon Preserve with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy, Saturday, August 12th, 9am. Wander along a willow-filled canyon stream with restored coastal sage scrub habitat. Look down on the Peninsula’s rare Catalina Schist from one of the few places you can see the exposed rock. Team Leader Training with Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy at White Point Nature Center, Saturday, August 5th, 10am – 1pm. Do you have a passion for being outdoors? Train now to become a Team Leader and assist in facilitating our Outdoor Volunteer Day events! This training program is a great way to gain important leadership skills, learn more about the peninsula's habitat and wildlife, and help us restore local natural areas! Trail Crew Intro Training, Saturday, August 12th at Fred Hesse Jr. Community Park, RPV, 9am – 12pm. Join our indoor intro class to trail building and maintenance followed by hands-on field training. Native Plant Sales – Saturday, August 12th at George F Canyon 10:30am – 1pm, Saturday, August 26th at White Point Nature Education Center 10:30am – 1pm. Monthly Plant Sales are Back! Come to our nature centers during our sales to learn more about growing local native plants and purchase some for your garden!

George F Canyon Guided Family Nature Preserve Walk with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy, Saturday, August 5th, 10:30am. You will be guided by a trained naturalist to discover a unique variety of wildlife in their canyon habitat with amazing views of the LA Basin. Meet outside on the back deck of the George F Canyon Nature Center. Parking in Preserve lot located at 27305 Palos Verdes Drive East, Rolling Hills Estates, CA 90274. No RSVP required. Rain cancels.
Outdoor Volunteer Day at Alta Vicente Reserve with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy, Saturday, August 12th, 9am – 12pm and Saturday, August 26th, 9am – 12pm. Come help us to restore habitat on the 22-acre restoration site to create a home for rare cactus wrens and gnatcatchers with beautiful views of Catalina Island. Outdoor Volunteer Day at Abalone Cove Reserve with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy, Saturday, August 19th, 9am – 12pm. Join the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy to volunteer on a breathtaking coastal reserve helping restore wildlife habitat. Students can receive community service hours. Guided Family Nature Walk at White Point Nature Preserve with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy, Saturday, August 19th, 10:30am. Naturalists will guide you along a trail to discover a unique variety of wildlife in their coastal sage scrub habitat with amazing views across to the ocean. Meet in front of the Nature Center and come inside to explore after the hike. Reservations not required. Preserve parking available at the end of the street in a gravel lot at 1600 West Paseo del Mar, San Pedro.
Outdoor Volunteer Day at White Point Nature Preserve with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy, Sunday, August 27th, 9am – 12pm. Help care for the gardens at White Point Nature Preserve by planting native shrubs, removing invasive weeds, watering native plants, grooming trails and more! Volunteer with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy Rapid Response Team, Fridays and Saturdays, 9am - 12pm. Work alongside the field staff to help protect important wildlife habitat.
