DAR Presents America 250 Semiquincentennial Anniversary Celebration

From the 250th anniversary of the Boston Tea Party in 2023 to the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 2026, the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution aim to celebrate the Semiquincentennial Anniversary of the birth of our wonderful Nation and its Navy.

In 2016 the U.S. Congress established the United States Semiquincentennial Commission and DAR is privileged to serve on it. The commission formed America 250! a program whose vision is to have “ignited our imaginations, elevated our diverse stories, inspired service in our communities, and demonstrated the lasting durability of the American project.” https://america250.org/

The Point Vicente Chapter, NSDAR is throwing a kickoff party of this three-year celebration on April 22nd, 2024 starting at 10:30 a.m. on the fantail of the Battleship IOWA. The Daughters will be celebrating our past, present and future by honoring JROTC from local schools and Sea Cadets from programs in the South Bay, as well as local Navy and Marine Veterans. Participants will be able to meet George Washington and a Navy Rear Admiral and enjoy the Navy Brass Band and the Fireboat display by the Port Fire Department.

This event is open to the public! Those interested in honoring their veterans and patriots may purchase a space in the event program. Local businesses are welcome to place an ad in the program as well. These small fees will help offset the costs of the event and allow us to pay for lunch for our honorees. Inquire with the contact above for more details.

The Daughters of the American Revolution is a 501c3 nonprofit, non-political organization who seeks to promote Education, Historic Preservation and Patriotism in the community.
