The Point Vicente DAR Celebrates California History with California Author and Historian Dr. Donna L. Friess

The Point Vicente Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution will celebrate California History this month with California Author and Historian Dr. Donna L. Friess presenting "“The Spanish Colonization of Early California – From Pastoral Outpost to 5th Largest Economy in the World.”

Monday, February 19, 2024
1:00 p.m.
Community Room
Peninsula Center Library
701 Silver Spur Rd, Rolling Hills Estates, CA 90274

Dr. Friess will review our state’s dynamic history. The diversity of topography along the valleys, mountains, and coastlines that made up the raw western landscape shaped the vision of early pioneers and presented new challenges and, most importantly, new opportunities. Large influxes of immigrants brought new skills, influences, and cultures with them; this was instrumental in creating a truly diverse area with new buildings, communities, businesses, and facilities that continue to exist today.

Dr. Friess is Professor Emeritus, Cypress College, has volunteered as a docent at Mission San Juan Capistrano, and is Second Vice Regent of the San Clemente Chapter of the DAR. She was named Orange County Teacher of the Year by Cypress College. She has many publications on California history.

This is an in-person meeting. All Point Vicente Chapter meetings are open to the public, and we encourage you to invite friends and family to this special event.
