GUIDED WALKS       

Where Sea Meets Sky: Coastal Birdlife Walk with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy on Wednesday, February 4th, at 9am. Join expert Bob Shanman meeting in front of White Point Nature Education Center for a free bird walk with an experienced naturalist, binoculars provided. 1600 W. Paseo del Mar, San Pedro, CA 90731  

Build It. Fix It. Love It: Trail Crew Introductory Class with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy Saturday, February 7, 10am-1:00pm. Ladera Linda Community Center, RPV. Join our indoor intro class to trail building and maintenance from a nationally recognized trail expert covering various techniques for erosion repair, building rock walls and more! Classroom training will be followed by hands-on field training at future workdays. No experience needed. 18 years+ Register here  

George F Canyon Discovery Walk with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy, Saturday, February 7th, 10:30am.  Naturalists will guide you along a trail through the preserve to discover unique wildlife in their canyon habitat with amazing views of the LA Basin. Be Mine, Valentine: Nature Walk at Forrestal Reserve, Saturday, February 14th, 9am -  Discover dramatic geological formations on the cliffs of this former basalt quarry. Experienced docents will guide you on an exploration of some of the highest-quality coastal sage scrub habitat on the Peninsula. Moderate to strenuous. RPV

A Whale of a Story: Be Brave & Be Kind Special Book Reading with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy, Sunday, February 15th @ 10:30-11:30am. Celebrate World Whale Day with a special author reading of the book "Be Brave and Be Kind: The Story of Eleanor the Whale" by Nicole Marie Boettcher. Families with young children, especially ages 3–8, will love this gentle and inspiring storytime celebrating kindness, courage, and ocean life. 

Help Track the Cactus Wren — Community Science Training with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy - Saturday, February 21, and February 28, 9:00am-12:00pm.  Join our Community Science Program to help track rare coastal cactus wrens and contribute to important conservation efforts. Must pre-register and attend both days to become a certified volunteer. 16 years +  Register    

Protect What You Love: Become a Trail Watch Volunteer with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy.  Join us for training on February 21 & 28, 2026, 9am-noon.  Are you Interested in educating others on how to safely enjoy the trails and natural areas? Hidden Gems of the White Point Nature Preserve Walk with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy, Saturday, February 21st, 10:30am.  Naturalists will guide you along a trail to discover unique wildlife in their coastal sage scrub habitat with amazing views across to the ocean.  Meet in front of the Nature Center and come inside to explore after the hike.  Preserve parking available at the end of the street in a gravel lot at 1600 W. Native Plant Wonders: Guided Garden Tour, Saturday, February 28th at 11:00-11:30am. Step into the beauty of the White Point Native Plant Garden and discover the wonders of California’s native flora! On this guided tour, you’ll learn expert tips on growing and caring for native plants, explore the vibrant garden habitats, and see firsthand how native plants support local wildlife. Perfect for gardeners, nature lovers, and anyone curious about sustainable landscaping. Meet at the White Point Nature Education Center and take home ideas to make your own garden a native plant paradise!  Located at 1600 Paseo del Mar, San Pedro

 Storytime Tails – Wise Whales, Sunday, February 1st @ 10:30-11:30am. Join us at White Point Nature Education Center for fun stories about the cool critters that live on the nature preserve with crafts and hands-on activities. Recommended for kids ages 3-6 and their caregivers.  

Nature Club – Rocks & Fossils, Saturday, February 14th @ 10:30-11:30am. Join us at White Point Nature Education Center for a rocks and fossils themed Nature Club! We'll learn about being a geologist and paleontologist while doing fun activities and crafts. This event is free and suitable for ages 3-10.  

 NATIVE PLANT SALES  

Bring Nature Home: Native Plant Sales by the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy – Saturday, February 14th at George F Canyon 10:30am – 12pm, located at 27305 Palos Verdes Dr E, Rolling Hills Estates, CA 90274.   Create your own butterfly garden with a beautiful native plant from the Palos Verdes Peninsula. Our native plant expert will give you professional tips on creating a garden waystation and home for local species!  Join us Saturday, February 28th at White Point Nature Education Center located at 1600 W. Paseo del Mar, San Pedro 10:30am – 12pm for another chance to get native plants.    

OUTDOOR VOLUNTEER ACTIVITIES      

Outdoor Volunteer Day at Alta Vicente Reserve with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy , Saturday, February 7th, 9am - 12pm. Come help us to restore habitat on the 22-acre restoration site for rare native birds (the cactus wren and California gnatcatcher) and rare native butterflies (Palos Verdes Blue and El Segundo Blue). Enjoy ocean breezes and observe beautiful views of Catalina Island on site! Register now:  PVPLC Volunteer Hub      

Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy Outdoor Volunteer Day at Abalone Cove Reserve, Saturday, February 14th, 9:15am –12:15pm. Join the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy to volunteer on a breathtaking coastal reserve helping restore wildlife habitat.  Students can receive community service hours.  Sign up at pvplc.volunteerhub.com     

Outdoor Volunteer Day at White Point with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy, Sunday, February 15th and February 22nd, 9am – 12pm.  Join us at White Point Nature Preserve! We will be working to maintain the preserve's restoration area of native plant species to improve critical habitat for wildlife at the preserve and beautify outdoor natural space for the community.  Students can receive community service hours. Hands-On Conservation at the Lunada Canyon Nature Reserve Agua Amarga with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy, Saturday, February 28th, 9am – 12pm. Join us at our canyon restoration site to help maintain one of our newest sites as we improve habitat for local wildlife such as the rare Palos Verdes Blue Butterfly. Students may receive service hours.
