Record-Breaking Cars, Bikes & Coffee Show Over 3,000 People Attended the Heritage & Museums Themed Event at Honda’s National Headquarters in Torrance
The August 16 edition of the bimonthly Cars, Bikes & Coffee Shows at Honda’s national headquarters in Torrance was the best-attended event yet with 3,300 people and over 1,600 cars and motorcycles. The Heritage & Museums themed show included 37 exhibitors, including 12 local and regional museums, featuring the Torrance Historical Society all the way to the world-famous Petersen Automotive Museum. Other museums included Lions Automobilia, Segerstrom Shelby Museum, Battleship USS Iowa, Flight Path Museum LAX, Lomita Railroad Museum, Los Angeles Maritime Museum, Torrance Art Museum, and ESMoA. Of course Honda’s own American Honda Collection Hall museum was open, and they even offered ride-alongs in vintage Honda and Acura cars.
The shows, which are held in February, April, June, August, October and December, draw a diverse crowd of car and motorcycle enthusiasts of all brands, models and eras, local families, and Honda employees who also take the opportunity to bring their families to show them where they work. Together with the rolling showcase of attending enthusiasts’ cars and motorcycles—that range from classic domestic brands to modern exotic European supercars, and of course of lot of customized Hondas and Acuras—the shows include free coffee, giveaways, a live DJ, food trucks and exhibitors.
To keep things fresh and to encourage repeat visits, the shows have different themes so there is always something new to see and do. Carl Pulley, manager of Honda Heritage Public Relations, who runs the museum and shows, said “The Heritage & Museums theme was inspired by vehicle enthusiasts whose connection to a particular era of car or motorcycle is very personal. Often their love of a brand or era comes from grandparents, parents, or perhaps the car they desperately wanted while in high school but couldn’t afford back then.” He continued that, “We also wanted to promote other local museums of different types to be a positive member of the community and encourage visitors from elsewhere to make the South Bay a destination.”
The next Cars, Bikes & Coffee Show will be on Saturday, October 18 with the theme Customization & Fall Fun, being a celebration of vehicle personalization, Hispanic Heritage Month, Día de los Muertos and Halloween. The show will include custom, prototype and concept vehicles, a Trunk-or-Treat, costume contests, a Mariachi band and traditional Mexican dancing recital. Those interested in decorating their vehicle for the Trunk-or-Treat can register to do so and get early access and special parking by visiting https://forms.office.com/r/Rs8Jj8ERjp.
