Special Events    

MLK Jr. Day of Service by the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy, Monday, January 19th, 9am – 12pm. Join us for Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service at the White Point Nature Preserve! You will help care for the Native Plant Demonstration Garden by planting native shrubs, removing invasive weeds, watering native plants, grooming trails and more! Your efforts will help restore this habitat for wildlife as well as create a beautiful place for the community to enjoy!   Sign up at pvplc.volunteerhub.com

GUIDED WALKS     

George F Canyon Discovery Walk with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy, Saturday, January 3rd, 10:30am.  Naturalists will guide you along a trail through the preserve to discover a unique variety of wildlife in their canyon habitat with amazing views of the LA Basin. Meet on the back patio of the Nature Center. Parking in Preserve lot located at 27305 Palos Verdes Drive East, Rolling Hills Estates, CA 90274. Rain cancels. Sign up at:  pvplc.org/calendar      

Explore Coastal Birdlife with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy on Wednesday, January 7th at 9am. Join expert Bob Shanman meeting in front of White Point Nature Education Center for a free bird walk with an experienced naturalist, binoculars provided. 1600 W. Paseo del Mar, San Pedro, CA 90731 

Naturalist Guided Walk at McBride Trail with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy, Saturday, January 10th, 9am. Experience panoramic views of the Palos Verdes Nature Preserve and Catalina Island in the distance.  Easy. Travel south on Highridge Rd. Past Crest Rd. Turn right onto Ocean Terrace Dr.  Meet at the cul-de-sac on the west end of Ocean Terrace Dr. Sign up at:  pvplc.org/calendar     

Explore the Coastal Haven of White Point Nature Preserve with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy, Saturday, January 17th, 10:30am.  Naturalists will guide you along a trail to discover a unique variety of wildlife in their coastal sage scrub habitat with amazing views across to the ocean.  Meet in front of the Nature Center and come inside to explore after the hike.  Preserve parking available at the end of the street in a gravel lot at 1600 W. Native Plant Wonders: Guided Garden Tour, Saturday, January 24th at 11:00-11:30am. Step into the beauty of the White Point Native Plant Garden and discover the wonders of California’s native flora! On this guided tour, you’ll learn expert tips on growing and caring for native plants, explore the vibrant garden habitats, and see firsthand how native plants support local wildlife. Perfect for gardeners, nature lovers, and anyone curious about sustainable landscaping.  Meet at the White Point Nature Education Center and take home ideas to make your own garden a native plant paradise!  Located at 1600 Paseo del Mar, San Pedro

Nature Club: Wildlife Tracking, Saturday Jan 10 @ 10:30-11:30am 

Join us for a nocturnal wildlife themed Nature Club at White Point Nature Education Center. We'll do fun activities and learn about how scientists study animals that come out at night! Ages 3-10 years old. 

Storytime: Rowdy Raccoons, Sunday Jan 4 @ 10:30-11:30am 

Join us at White Point Nature Education Center for fun stories about the cool critters that live on the nature preserve with crafts and hands-on activities. Recommended for kids ages 3-6 and their caregivers. 

NATIVE PLANT SALES

Bring Nature Home: Native Plant Sales by the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy – Saturday, January 10th at George F Canyon 10:30am – 12pm, located at 27305 Palos Verdes Dr E, Rolling Hills Estates, CA 90274.   Create your own butterfly garden with a beautiful native plant from the Palos Verdes Peninsula. Our native plant expert will give you professional tips on creating a garden waystation and home for local species!  Join us Saturday, January 24th at White Point Nature Education Center located at 1600 W. Paseo del Mar, San Pedro 10:30am – 12pm for another chance to get native plants.    

OUTDOOR VOLUNTEER ACTIVITIES       

Restore wildlife habitat with Ocean Views at Abalone Cove with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy, Saturday, January 3, 9:15am –12:15pm. Join the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy to volunteer on a breathtaking coastal reserve helping restore wildlife habitat.  Students can receive community service hours.  Register now: pvplc.volunteerhub.com 

NEW!  Join a community volunteer day on San Ramon Reserve - the Newest Restoration Area of the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy, Saturday, January 10, 9am-12pm. Take in stunning landscape views and assist us in planting coastal sage scrub habitat at our newest restoration site as we continue our effort to expand native habitat for local wildlife and promote native plant diversity!  Students may receive service hours.   Register now: pvplc.volunteerhub.com 

Hands-On Conservation at the Lunda Canyon Nature Reserve Agua Amarga with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy, Saturday, January 24, 9am – 12pm. Join us at our canyon restoration site to help maintain one of our newest sites as we improve habitat for local wildlife such as the rare Palos Verdes Blue Butterfly.  Outdoor Volunteer Day at White Point with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy, Sunday, January 25, 9am – 12pm.  Join us at White Point Nature Preserve! We will be working to maintain the preserve's restoration area of native plant species to improve critical habitat for wildlife at the preserve and beautify outdoor natural space for the community.  Students can receive community service hours.  Register now: pvplc.volunteerhub.com
