Cedar Wax Wing with Berries

During a walk at the South Coast Botanical Gardens, I noticed this tree with red berries. Then a group of fifteen birds landed on the tree to feast. Right time and right place!

This image was chosen for the 2023 Summer Show, Palos Verdes Art Center.

Ellen Cantor

Grandma Sue's Purses with Bullocks Card Diptych

Ellen Cantor uses the camera to reimagine the family photo album and objects that hold personal histories in order to explore the distillation and persistence of memory.

In this series, Mimi and Her Purses, Ellen documents the remnants lives’ past. When an elderly relative passes away, Mimi is the recipient of their purse and whatever is left inside. By using these handbags for special occasions, she keeps their spirit alive and creates a living memorial for all to see her wearing them – reminders of the past when every outfit had its own matching purse.

Patrick Smyth

Untitled, 2023

I am an analog photographer and this image was made with a Rolleiflex camera and Kodak Portra 400. It is a study of the interplay between architecture and light. This image was taken at an apartment building on the mountainside in Onomichi, Japan, a space redesigned by Studio Mumbai architects.

Chaussee is a recent winner in three categories in the 2022 Worldwide Photography Gala Award, 19th Edition Julia Margaret Cameron.

Equus Dreaming, Dolomite Mountains

In Italy’s alpine meadows, a horse breaks from the grazing herd. Nature’s beauty seems built into every creature’s DNA.

This image was an award winner at the 2023 OC Fair Photo Contest and 2022 European Photo Contest.

Falling Light collects works from more than 20 of the noteworthy photo artists in the South Bay. So be sure to make some time in Sept. for a visit to Crafted.

PADA is associated with the Palos Verdes Art Center.
