Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy Earth Day Beauty of Nature Film Presentation of Giants Rising Sunday, April 21 at 4 pm.  Giants Rising is produced in partnership with the Redford Center and is narrated by musician Michael Franti.  Meet passionate heroes dedicated to unraveling the mysteries of the redwoods and safeguarding their future.  Filmgoers will see the superpower of redwoods revealed like never before. Location 1501 S Cabrillo Ave, San Pedro.  Tickets $10 online and $15 at the door.  Visit:  PVPLC.ORG/calendar  

Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy Earth Day Celebration and Volunteer Day at White Point Nature Preserve – Saturday, April 20th, 9am – 12pm.  Celebrate Earth Day by helping to care for the Native Plant Demonstration Garden! Enjoy weeding & watering activities, native plant seed preparation, children’s learning activities at the Nature Center, a guided garden walk, raffle prizes, and more! Sign up at pvplc.volunteerhub.com

Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy Virtual Bioblitz Training – Tuesday, April 23rd, 6pm – 7pm.  Join this virtual presentation to learn how you can be a community scientist collecting information about biodiversity for the upcoming City Nature Challenge April 26-April 29. No prior experience necessary, all you need is a smartphone or a camera and a desire to get out on the trails to see what you can find. Sign up at pvplc.org/calendar

Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy Volunteer Team Leader Training, Saturday, April 6th – 10am-1pm at White Point Nature Preserve.  Be a Team Leader using your expertise or gain brand new skills to provide support and oversight of other volunteers during outdoor restoration events. If you love restoring habitat and working with others, this program is for you!  This training will be delivered in an outdoor space. Please come prepared by wearing closed-toe shoes and bringing sun protection. GUIDED MONTHLY WALKS

Family Nature Walk at George F Canyon Nature Preserve with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy, Saturday, April 6th, 10:30am.  Naturalists will guide you along a trail through the preserve to discover a unique variety of wildlife in their canyon habitat with amazing views of the LA Basin. Meet on the back patio of the Nature Center and come inside to explore after the hike. Parking in Preserve lot located at 27305 Palos Verdes Drive East, Rolling Hills Estates, CA 90274. Rain cancels. Guided Nature Walk at Ocean Trails Reserve with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy, Saturday, April 13th, 9am. Walk through an impressively-restored habitat on top of an ancient slide area with spectacular bluff-top ocean views that are well worth the visit.  Easy to moderate. Guided Family Nature Walk at White Point Nature Preserve with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy, Saturday, April 20th, 10:30am.  Naturalists will guide you along a trail to discover a unique variety of wildlife in their coastal sage scrub habitat with amazing views across to the ocean.  Meet in front of the Nature Center and come inside to explore after the hike.  Preserve parking available at the end of the street in a gravel lot at 1600 West Paseo Del Mar, San Pedro. Native Plant Sale by the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy April 13th and April 27th – Saturday, April 13th at George F Canyon 10:30am – 12pm, located at 27305 Palos Verdes Dr E, Rolling Hills Estates, CA 90274.   Create your own butterfly garden with a beautiful native plant from the Palos Verdes Peninsula. Our native plant expert will give you professional tips on creating a garden waystation and home for local species!  Join us Saturday, April 27th at White Point Nature Education Center located at 1600 Paseo del Mar, San Pedro 10:30am – 12pm for another chance to get native plants.

VOLUNTEER ACTIVITIES

Outdoor Volunteer Day at Alta Vicente Reserve with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy, Saturday, April 13th, 9am – 12pm. Come help us to restore habitat on the 22-acre restoration site to create a home for rare cactus wrens and gnatcatchers with beautiful views of Catalina Island. Sign up at pvplc.volunteerhub.com

Outdoor Volunteer Day at Agua Amarga Reserve with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy, Saturday, April 27th and April 28th, 9am – 12pm. Help remove invasive weeds and care for a community restoration site to benefit wildlife. Sign up at pvplc.volunteerhub.com.

Volunteer with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy Rapid Response Team, Fridays & Saturdays, 9am - 12pm.  Work alongside the field staff to help protect important wildlife habitat.  Help with trail maintenance, fence building, installing signage and more!   Students can receive community service hours.  No experience needed. 15 and up.
