In recent survey of US cities with a combination of the highest median annual income and the most residents over 65 years of age, Rancho Palos Verdes came in 1st nationally. 26% of RPV residents are over 65 and the median annual income is $166,747. In second place was Highland Park, IL, with 25% over 65 and median income of $159,567, followed by the likes of Bainbridge Is, WA, Honolulu, HI, and Naples, FL.

One conclusion to draw from that is that we live in such a wonderful place that people just don't want to leave. It also explains the high property values -- fewer people are selling than the number who want to live here.

While the survey did not delve into the underlying factors making these cities attractive, those familiar with the areas understand the appeal. Factors such as favorable climate, low crime rates, scenic beauty, and a sense of seclusion from urban hustle contribute significantly. In particular, the Peninsula's charm is distinctly recognized within the broader Los Angeles area for its unique blend of these qualities, enhancing its allure as a place to reside.
