Palos Verdes Pulse Official Contest Rules & Disclaimer

1. Eligibility

Contests are open to legal residents of California who are 18 years of age or older at the time of entry, unless otherwise specified in the individual contest description. Employees, contributors, and immediate family members of Palos Verdes Pulse, its affiliates, or its contest sponsors are not eligible to win. Void where prohibited by law.

2. How to Enter

No purchase or payment is necessary to enter or win. Entry instructions will be provided with each individual contest (e.g., photo caption submissions, trivia answers, etc.). Only one entry per person per contest unless otherwise stated. Entries that are incomplete, inaccurate, or received after the deadline will be disqualified.

3. Prizes

Prizes are provided courtesy of local businesses and community sponsors. Prizes have no cash value and cannot be exchanged, sold, or transferred. Substitutions are not permitted unless the sponsor discontinues the prize, in which case a prize of equal or greater value may be substituted.
Palos Verdes Pulse is not responsible for the availability, quality, or fulfillment of prizes provided by third-party sponsors.

4. Winner Selection and Notification

Winners will be chosen by Palos Verdes Pulse staff or designated judges based on the criteria stated in each contest (such as creativity, accuracy, or random drawing). Winners will be notified via email or direct message within five (5) business days of the contest’s end date.
If a winner cannot be reached or does not respond within five (5) business days, another winner may be selected. All decisions made by Palos Verdes Pulse regarding contest results are final.

5. Use of Entries and Publicity

By submitting an entry, participants grant Palos Verdes Pulse a perpetual, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, publish, and display submitted content (including names, photos, captions, and responses) in print, digital, and social media formats for promotional or editorial purposes.
No additional compensation will be provided for such use.

6. Limitation of Liability

By entering, participants release and hold harmless Palos Verdes Pulse, its employees, affiliates, sponsors, and partners from any and all liability for injuries, losses, or damages of any kind arising from participation in the contest or the acceptance, possession, or use of any prize.
Palos Verdes Pulse is not responsible for technical malfunctions, lost entries, or errors in transmission.

7. Privacy

Participant contact information (such as name and email address) will be used solely for contest administration and Palos Verdes Pulse communications, including newsletters and promotional updates. Participants may unsubscribe at any time via the link included in every email.
Personal information will not be sold or shared with third parties, except as necessary for prize fulfillment.

8. Sponsor Partnerships

Some prizes are provided by local businesses or community sponsors. Sponsorship does not imply endorsement by Palos Verdes Pulse, and sponsor-provided prizes are subject to their own terms and conditions. Any issues regarding prize redemption must be directed to the sponsor.

9. General Conditions

Palos Verdes Pulse reserves the right to cancel, suspend, or modify any contest if fraud, technical failures, or other issues compromise its integrity or fairness. We also reserve the right to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process or violates these rules.
