11 Events In October You Don’t Want To Miss By Writer and Contributor Emily McGinn
Fall is rolling in, and there are plenty of events coming up around the Peninsula to enjoy during October. Here’s our rundown of events you want to mark on your calendars.
Tour d'Art 2025
This annual art show gives attendees the opportunity to explore art at the Palos Verdes Art Center and six additional artists’ studios, and to talk to artists. Expect to see a variety of mediums, including handmade jewelry, textiles, sculptures, paintings and photography.

7th Annual Smacktoberfest
This event combines volleyball, music and a beer and wine festival. There will be more than 20 craft beer, wine and spirit vendors to choose from as customers enjoy local DJS, a volleyball tournament and a game area with mini golf and more. There will also be food from local restaurants.

Mottainai by the Redondo Beach Art Group
This art exhibit will focus on the concept of Mottainai, a Japanese word for the beauty of reclaimed materials. The art form is designed to minimize waste, respect resources for their intrinsic value and showcase the value in using what already exists. This opening reception will offer an opportunity to meet the artists.

Playing with Palm Weaving with Diyan Bukobomba
If you are in the mood to try something new, this workshop for palm weaving may be a good fit. This event will celebrate Filipino American History Month by highlighting the art form of palm weaving and guiding attendees through creating their own palm weaving piece.

11th Annual Birdies for Breast Cancer
City of Hope South Bay and Providence Little Company of Mary will be hosting a fundraiser at The Links at Terranea. Attendees will participate in a round of golf, a silent auction and on-course contests, and there will be food and drinks available. The proceeds will go to Cancer Support Community South Bay.

Vintner's Dinner Featuring Caymus Vineyards
This five-course tasting menu event hosted at Terranea Resort will feature a menu by Chef Fabio Ugoletti, the Italian-born chef de cuisine of Terranea’s award-winning restaurant mar'sel. Dishes will include seared scallop, lobster risotto, butternut stuffed ravioli and American wagyu ribeye steak. There will also be fine wine pairings to accompany the meal.

35th Annual Pumpkin Race
Manhattan Beach will be hosting its 35th annual pumpkin race, where participants race a pumpkin down Manhattan Beach Boulevard. The Manhattan Beach Pier will feature thematic Pumpkin Race decor for attendees to enjoy. Costumes are encouraged.

Spooky Story Time Bonfire

37th Annual Family Halloween Carnival

San Pedro’s 14th Annual Día de los Muertos Festival
Discover San Pedro will be celebrating Latin and Mexican heritage with its annual Día de los Muertos Festival in historic downtown. Expect to see live entertainment, featuring both contemporary and traditional Mexican folklore music, as well as a beer garden, food and crafts.
