**The Art of Underwater Photography by Brett Stanley - – An Other Worldly Adventure**

I've always been fascinated by water, ever since I was a child in
Australia I've been a Water-Baby, and the feeling of floating underwater
has been my happy place my whole life. I learned to dive at 16, grew up
surfing and swimming, and when the chance came for me to take my
photographic career below the surface I jumped at the chance.

As a commercial photographer living in New Zealand 10 years ago I
started to experiment with underwater portrait photography and after a
few trials I found a way to be able to take my photographic style, which
is cinematic and well lit, under the water - which opened up a new world
of creative opportunities, one that I've been exploring for the past 8
years.

After moving to Los Angeles, and specifically Long Beach, I've been
expanding on my underwater work - building whole sets and rooms in my
underwater studio which has garnered attention the world over. My images
have gone viral, been used for commercials and album covers, and I have
even shot with celebrities - which is always a nice validation of my work.

From my studio in Long Beach I work with every day people who want
their portrait taken underwater, whether it's a maternity shoot, or a
couples shoot, or just something to get them out of their comfort zone -
it's wonderful to be able to share this surreal, dreamlike place with my
clients and collaborators.

UNDERWATER PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHER BRETT STANLEY HAS BEEN WORKING WITH WATER FOR OVER 10 YEARS, AND IS STILL FINDING CREATIVE WAYS TO CREATE IMAGES THAT HAVE A LIFE OF THEIR OWN.

Brett loves being under the water and adding photography to that is just a bonus. His natural calm nature in the water really shows through and helps his clients to feel comfortable, which is the first aim of any underwater shoot.

Whilst based in Los Angeles, USA, the Australian born photographer travels frequently and relishes the chance to work with new people and new locations all over the world.

Always looking to innovate, Brett has built custom equipment and perfected his techniques to make every photoshoot the best it can be.

Now residing in Los Angeles, California, Brett is available for commercial work worldwide.
