Victorian Christmas Celebration By Photographer and Contributor Simie Seaman

It’s no secret that I love the Banning Museum and Drum Barracks Civil War Museum and especially at Christmas time. This last weekend they hosted their over 30 year old Annual Victorian Christmas. The grounds were humming with activity and joyful celebration.  The Museums grounds were transformed into a Christmas Festival featuring Victorian period entertainment. Of course I had to attend.

If you didn’t attend the one day free event this is what you missed. A visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus, walk-through tours of the museums all decked out for holidays, an array of period activities, holiday carolers, Blacksmith demonstrations and horse drawn trolley that transported you between museums through the Banning Wrigley Historic District.

The Banning Museum and Drum Barracks Annual Victorian Christmas is always the first full weekend in December. The Victorian Christmas was a wonderful celebration and after experiencing the charm of this kind of celebration, perhaps you will make this an Annual Holiday Destination.

The Banning Museum and Drum Barracks Civil War Museum are Facilities of the City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks and located in Wilmington, California. For tours, reservations are required. For more information contact the Banning Museum 310- 548-2005 / Drum Barracks Civil War Museum 310 548-7509
