SPECIAL EVENTS  

Guided Nature Walk at Ocean Trails Reserve with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy, Saturday, August 13th, 9am.  Walk through impressively-restored habitat on top of an ancient slide area with spectacular bluff-top ocean views that are well worth the visit. Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy Trail Crew Intro Class Saturday, August 13th at 9am – 12pm.  Join the PVP Land Conservancy for an introductory class to learn how to maintain the Peninsula's trails!  Learn about trail building and maintenance from a nationally-recognized trail expert. Following this course, join us 2nd Saturdays for in the field training and experience.  We will focus on various techniques for erosion repair, building rock walls, proper pruning and more! No experience needed for the introductory course. Age 18 and over. Masks are required for the indoor class at this time. Sign up at https://pvplc.volunteerhub.com/.

Outdoor Volunteer Day at Abalone Cove Reserve with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy, Saturday, August 6th and August 27th, 9am – 12pm.  Join the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy to volunteer at the newest restoration site on a breathtaking coastal reserve helping eradicate invasive weeds to protect native species. George F Canyon Guided Nature Preserve Walk with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy, Saturday, August 6th, 10:30am.  You will be guided by a trained naturalist to discover a unique variety of wildlife in their canyon habitat with amazing views of the LA Basin.  Meet outside on the back deck of the George F Canyon Nature Center.  Parking in Preserve lot located at 27305 Palos Verdes Drive East, Rolling Hills Estates, CA 90274. No RSVP required.  Rain cancels.  

Outdoor Volunteer Day at Alta Vicente Reserve with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy, Saturday, August 13th, 9am – 12pm. Come help us to restore habitat on the 22-acre restoration site to create a home for rare cactus wrens and gnatcatchers with beautiful views of Catalina Island. Outdoor Volunteer Day at White Point Nature Preserve with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy, Saturday, August 20th, 9am – 12pm.  Help care for the White Point Native Plant Demonstration Garden by planting native shrubs, removing invasive weeds, watering native plants, grooming trails and more! Sign up at: https://pvplc.volunteerhub.com/

NEW!  Guided Nature Walk at White Point Nature Preserve with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy, Saturday, August 20th, 10:30am.  Naturalists will guide you along a trail to discover a unique variety of wildlife in their coastal sage scrub habitat with amazing views across to the ocean.  Meet in front of the Nature Center and come inside to explore after the hike.  Park in the lot at the dead-end of 1600 Paseo del Mar, San Pedro.  Reservations not required.  Preserve parking available in gravel lot at 1600 West Paseo del Mar, San Pedro.

Volunteer with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy Rapid Response Team, Fridays and Saturdays, 9am - 12pm.  Work alongside the field staff around the Palos Verdes Nature Preserve to help protect important wildlife habitat.  Help with trail maintenance, fence building, installing signage and more!  No experience needed. 15 and up.
