Dr. William Ailor recently retired as a Technical Fellow at The Aerospace Corporation’s Center for Orbital and Reentry Debris Studies (CORDS). In that position he led research on spacecraft reentry and breakup, including the development of the Reentry Breakup Recorder and the Hypersonic Vehicle Onboard Recorder (HyVOR) for collecting reentry and flight data.
Dr. Ailor has testified before Congress and the Columbia Accident Investigation Board and holds three patents. He earned his B.S. in Aerospace Engineering and M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from North Carolina State University, and a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from Purdue University.
