Made in the South Bay Fine Art Reception Saturday 9/20, 3 pm Exhibition Embraces the Art and Artists of the South Bay

The Fall Gallery Artists’ show offers a look at life in the South Bay in a stunning showcase of 92 works.  Debuting on 8/21, this is the second exhibition of gallery artists for 2025; all 14 artists have been juried in.

“It is a natural progression for Destination: Art, as the community hub for art in the South Bay, to theme a show around the pace and love of our part of Los Angeles County,” says President Robin Johns.  “Our immensely talented gallery artists rose to the challenge of capturing the people, places and moments that they have experienced, created and now display with our art lovers, collectors and visitors.”

Gallery Artists have two shows annually, each on exhibit for three months. Destination:Art also has a robust membership of Associate Artists whose work is shown once a year.  And there are 12 artists in residence who have studios at Destination: Art, making a unique art space combination.

“Made in the South Bay features a growing variety of art mediums reflecting the expanding tastes of our patrons,” Johns continued.  “From the traditional mediums of watercolor as in the paintings of Sharon Towle and Debbie Abshear; and pastel and pen and ink of Mike Ishikawa; our show also includes complex mixed media works by Lynn Mikami, collage and acrylic by Ginger Doner, and large black and white photography by David Carpenter.”

The entire exhibition can be viewed online here.

“As we head to a celebration of our 11th anniversary in November, Destination: Art will continue to elevate the presence of artists and their contributions to our community, and to foster awareness of art as being essential to the human spirit,” Johns concluded.

The reception will take place from 3 pm to 5 pm on Saturday, 9/20.  The exhibition continues through November 15.

Destination: Art is a non-profit studio and gallery created to elevate the presence of local artists and their contributions to the South Bay by providing creative and collaborative exhibition and studio spaces; connecting and engaging with the public to promote fine art and to provide education in visual arts; and, through advocacy efforts, bringing about more awareness and engagement of art as essential to the flourishing of the human spirit.
