Opens Dec 17 : Trani's Majestic Supper Club at Historic Harbor House By Writer and Contributor NJ Jaeger

The Trani Family’s 100-year pedigree as leading restaurateurs in the South Bay make their Majestic Supper Club revival inside San Pedro’s historic Harbor House one of the most exciting restaurant openings in recent memory. World renown entertainers graced the WWII USO stage at the Harbor House, a connection that has been artfully preserved by the developer, Trani family and community arts partners.

After touring the reimagined Harbor House, a Beacon Street Waterfront Arts District award-winning adaptive reuse project, the Trani’s decision to become its first-floor anchor tenant was unanimous. Residents in the landmark living spaces above enjoy unobstructed waterfront views of the Port of Los Angeles along with menus prepared by San Pedro’s favorite restaurant family.

The Majestic reopens this week as an immersive Italian culinary performance venue with a fresh take on variety performances unlike anything in the South Bay. Dinner hours are from 5PM to close Wednesday through Sunday, with the main performance stage live on Wednesday nights. The Majestic’s friendly baristas open for coffee at 8AM, and soon patrons may relax under an umbrella poolside where lunch will be served.

“The style of cuisine for the Supper Club will be, Prohibition Era Nuevo, something you would have seen in the 1920’s and 1930s.” Chef Dustin Trani

The San Pedro Bay Historical Society and the San Pedro Heritage Museum have curated the Majestic’s inaugural art installation to celebrate the location with photographs from their collections.

“We could go to other areas, other cities, but the cuisine of San Pedro has developed so much that we can really make some noise in whole Los Angeles dining scene.” Chef Dustin Trani

The Trani Family assembled an experienced team to develop and manage key project partnerships. Arts Technologist  KamranV, a former President of the ECHO Park Chamber of Commerce and Arts District BID volunteer for over a decade, brought an invaluable record of business and community arts coalition-building leadership to the table. KamranV explains the project’s alchemy, “ It’s unusual. So, we are taking part of our revenue, and it goes into a nonprofit fund, a project called SpaceSpace. a nonprofit arts initiative established with dublab, the 26-year-old radio and cultural institution. We make sure that the arts can thrive and the business can thrive in a way that's complementary and not pushing too hard on each other, right? And this 1st year, we'll be able to do three short variety presentations in music, dance, comedy or magic once a week on the dinner theater stage.” Programming partners include: Arts United San Pedro, Bob Baker Marionette Theater, Coastal Commons LA, Colburn School, Comedy Jamwich, Good Heroin Comedy, The Grand Annex Music Hall, KCRW, San Pedro City Ballet and Wunderkammer.

Kamran said, “ I feel so privileged, because this building, my partners, the trainees, the community that's here, that extraordinary  intersection of people just doesn’t happen very often in life,  so it's been special. Even just the people we've been hiring, they’re incredible. We have five employees that moved into the building specifically to work here. And all the folks from the neighborhood, I know that everyone is excited and anticipating an entertainment venue that they can go to and enjoy. “ Kamran’s customer-centric 921 team includes nightlife manager Nina, former ballerina and arts contributor Jasmine, café bar staff Emily, Colette, Andrew and Annalissa.

How was the best sound wave distribution achieved for each area? KamranV replied, “I was a technical director for Sonos Studio, when Sonos had the first of its kind consumer product instead of something available only in smart homes. I learned then the idea of distributing sound really creates a more pleasurable experience that doesn't impede people.  I had previously done immersive audio when I was at Interscope Records, but I never thought of it differently until I started doing art installations. I was like, wow, it makes sense. Everyone can hear it, but it doesn't have to be loud. Whereas, at a traditional concert the audience at the front gets blasted out and the people at the back are like, ah, it could be a little louder.

What milestone would you like to reach by next year in December?  KamranV responded smiling, “That’s really interesting, besides achieving operational touch points, I would like to have served everyone in San Pedro at least once.”

The Majestic is located inside the Harbor House at 921 S. Beacon Street, San Pedro, CA 90731.
