“I’m thrilled to see that ‘Shag with a Twist’ is being revived in San Pedro,” said Shag. “This new production will involve more interactivity and participation from the audience but will keep the finely crafted music and dance numbers from the original show. And I’m happy to see that the elaborate costumes and wigs that were such a big hit in the show’s previous incarnations will be back.”

The story is presented through the lens of true-crime reporters, Twinkie and Bun, who are determined to unravel the infamous case of the Tupperware Party Killer.

With a perfect blend of humor, suspense, and musical numbers, "Shag with a Twist” promises an unforgettable and entertaining evening where the cast will guide the audience on a journey through a murder mystery filled with vibrant characters, captivating performances, and a distinct flair for style.

 About “Shag with a Twist”

“The artwork of Josh Agle, aka Shag, is so fun and iconic that it connects with everyone who experiences it,” said co-creator and choreographer Cindy Bradley.  “Our goal was to bring his artwork to life and to capture in a live performance that essence of fun and mid-century esthetic that resonates in his paintings.”

Campy and cool, “Shag with a Twist” delivers an unpretentious, hip musical production. “Shag with a Twist” is set at a “shagedelic” Tupperware party hosted by the quintessential retro couple Eldon and Othal and their over-the-top friends.

The party quickly takes a turn when someone ends up dead. A bumbling policeman Inspector Sirgay, and his sidekick, fez wearing monkey named Mr. Cuddles, set out to solve the crime.

“This is not another sit-on-your hands production show,” said Shag.

“Shag with a Twist” premiered at Los Angeles Theatre Center, receiving rave reviews from the Los Angeles Times, LA Weekly, OC Weekly and others. It was named one of the Top 10 Musicals of 2005 by ReviewPlays.com, was nominated for eight prestigious Lester Horton Awards, and won an L.A. Stage Alliance Ovation Award. It subsequently had an extended run in Las Vegas in 2006, and in February 2024 was revived in Palm Springs as part of the city’s annual Modernism Week.
