Don't Change, Re-Arrange! By Shelley Stockwell-Nicholas, Ph.D. President of the International Hypnosis Federation

Faster than a kick boxer’s foot, the word “change” can put up defenses. So, let’s rearrange things so you have what exactly you want. As you reframe “change” to “rearrange” your attitude gets a facelift. Here are five easy ways to rearrange for success:

1. NAME DAY. Name it and you claim it. How do you hit a bulls-eye if you don’t set up a target? Name what really matters to you. Do you want to complete a project? Clear your desk? Organize? Make music? Write a book? Exercise? Lose weight? Bring in more money? Have fun?  Fall in love? You get where you want to go when you set your GPS so, be specific and your internal GPS will take you there before you know it. If you want to lose weight decide how much you want to release. To complete a project; decide the date of completion. You get the idea.

2. WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU?  Now that you name it, let yourself know WHY you want to claim it! ASK YOURSELF; “How will doing this benefit me?” “Does it resonate strong within me?” “Is this in alignment with my core values?” “Is this what I “want to do” or something I ‘should’ do?” “Is this my dream or someone else’s dream?” Great!

3. EMBRACE IT! Now step three…Imagine four boxes, one in you head for logic, one in your heart for empathy, one in your gut for emotion, and one around and above you for higher knowing. Now, take what you want and put it into each box, one at a time and ask each part of you to commit to go for it from the point of view of logic… empathy, emotion… and higher knowing… and you  align your internal team to create it. Hypnotists and neurologists agree that as you enter sleep, more easily embrace ideas SO DO THIS: Before sleep, when  brain waves shift and serotonin transforms into melatonin, think and imagine exactly what you want. When you awaken you will enjoy new, improved motivation!

4. MARK TIME IN BABY STEPSREADY. SET. GO! Small shifts add up to big ones. Rearrange your calendar to include each action steps you’ll take to have what you want. This helps you to create the space you need to move in the direction you really want. It feels so good to move forward and your action steps trigger motivation.

5. REMIND YOURSELF. Now that you’ve jumpstarted yourself, a picture, affirmation, quote, or key word can remind you, “This is what I want; what I really, really want.” I like the words “Just do it! A buddy too can help you rearrange and be proactive too. A touchstone keeps you at the top of your game so you enjoy each day a little more… You deserve it!
