In my last article, I wrote about the large guns deployed at Fort MacArthur as part of World War II defenses. Many other smaller weapons were deployed and in a much more timely manner. When the war came to the United States in December of 1941, Fort MacArthur's seacoast defense mission's scope of responsibility, for the first time, went beyond just the defense of the Port of Los Angeles.
