Point Fermin Historic Lighthouse: A Local LandmarkBy Dianne Gowder

At least twice a week, on my daily walks, I find myself at Point Fermin Park here in San Pedro and I never fail to walk around and admire the lighthouse. It is such a beautiful building. The Lighthouse was built in 1874 and it was the first navigational light in San Pedro Bay. As you can see it is a Victorian style lighthouse and one of only 6 built to this design.

The spirit of the holiday season filled the air as youngsters and those young at heart gathered along Silver Spur Road and Deep Valley Drive to watch as State Assemblymember, Al Muratsuchi, joined by city, county, and other officials kicked off the holiday season with the Annual Palos Verdes Peninsula Holiday Parade of Lights.

It’s no secret that I love the Banning Museum and Drum Barracks Civil War Museum and especially at Christmas time. This last weekend they hosted their over 30 year old Annual Victorian Christmas. The grounds were humming with activity and joyful celebration.  The Museums grounds were transformed into a Christmas Festival featuring Victorian period entertainment. Of course I had to attend.
